Arrival and waiting
Move her out of the main waiting area as soon as you can, ideally into a room with a door. Let a support person stay. If your hospital uses a discreet marker for pregnancy loss on the room or chart, use it so every staff member who enters knows before they speak.
- "I'm going to find you somewhere more private to wait."
- "Is there someone you'd like with you? They're welcome to stay."
- "I know waiting is hard right now. I'll keep checking on you."
- Asking about the pregnancy in a crowded waiting room
- Seating her beside patients in labor or with newborns
- Long silent waits with no update
